Quality wood furniture relies on so much more than just choosing the right species of wood. Getting the exact look you desire for your custom handmade furniture also depends on selecting the right stain. Here’s what you should know about this process.
Species Specific Stains
Each wood species is unique — and as a result, the type of stain that will work best for your wood furniture will largely depend on the type of wood being used for the piece. For example, any wood Brown Maple, Cherry, Oak, Elm, etc. can use any of our variety of stains, OCS-117 Asbury, Charcoal, Chocolate Spice, or Kona stains. There are many stains available for each wood species, so be sure to check out all your options.
Matching the Room
If you’re not sure which stain option would be best, you could take a photo of the room where you’ll keep the furniture and bring it in to Swiss Valley Furniture. Our knowledgeable team can use the color scheme and style of your room to help recommend the best stain options for your custom handmade furniture piece.
Care & Maintenance
Ensuring that your stain looks great in the months and years ahead will require proper care. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and extreme temperatures to protect the wood. Occasionally dusting the furniture or wiping it clean with a damp cloth and dishwashing soap will usually do the job. For more intensive cleaning, we recommend Guardsman cleaner.
The right stain will complete the look of your custom handmade furniture piece, resulting in a one of a kind look that your family will treasure for years to come.
