No home feels complete without comfortable furniture for your home. After all, what could be more relaxing than sitting down, watching TV or conversing with your family? However, if your  furniture is made of wood, you may want to rethink its placement. Exposure to direct sunlight can have a significant negative impact on your wood furniture.

Here at Swiss Valley Furniture we know that direct sunlight can harm your wood furniture in several ways, significantly damaging its overall appearance. Over time, exposure to the sun’s rays can cause the wood’s color to fade over time. While UV-resistant coatings can slow down this process, continued exposure to direct sunlight can permanently alter the look of wooden chairs and other furniture.

Worse yet, when sunlight is combined with intense heat, your wood furniture is at a much higher risk of drying out. In severe cases, this can cause the wood to split, requiring time-consuming repairs (or even a total replacement) to restore the look of your wood furniture.

As the old saying goes, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Keep your wood furniture in top condition by keeping it out of direct sunlight!
