At Swiss Valley Furniture, we pride ourselves on our ability to craft beautiful wood furniture pieces that are built to last for generations. Of course, you also want to keep your handcrafted furniture looking great so that it’s worth saving for generations—and that requires the occasional cleaning. These tips will help you keep your wood products in top shape.

First, be sure to dust often. For the best results, dust your wood furniture with a microfiber cloth that will more effectively pick up the dust. Moving your cloth in the same direction as the wood grain flows will also help your wood furniture maintain its appearance over time.

As tempting as it may be to use a spray polish to give your wood furniture some extra shine, overuse of this product can actually dull the wood’s appearance. You should also be careful to not use inappropriate cleaning products for the type of wood furniture you own. For example, wood furniture with a stained finish should never be waxed—it should only be treated to a damp dust.

You should also be careful when removing sticky spots from your wood furniture, as the chemical compounds in some cleaning products could actually damage the wood. A safer cleaning option is to dilute a small amount of white vinegar in water and rub the sticky surface with a damp cloth that has been dipped in the solution.

By following these simple steps, you’ll be able to keep your wood furniture looking great for years to come!
